Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #34

Welcome in Greyhawk fanatics. It's time for another Cultists episode. They've been tooling around the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief and now have come upon the mystery hidden beneath. This part of the dungeon eluded me in my youth, but now seeing the Giant Series as a whole, it makes more sense to me. Rather, it should make perfect sense to these two loveable maniacs. It's one of those IYKYK things about Greyhawk.

p.s. Starting next week, I will be running five straight weeks of Under to finish the series out, then my programming will be 100% Cultists for the foreseeable future. Huzzah.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #33

Welcome back in, Greyhawkers! Gary Con 2026 was a blast, if I met any of you readers at the convention then it was a pleasure, if not then you really should go. I ran a game with the Tower of Gygax event, and I was dressed as a cultist of Tharizdun. Only half the party died or went insane. I will do better next year! Meanwhile the duo of doom has searched deeper yet into the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief (see links below). Let's see what evils they have done this time. Enjoy!

p.s. I am back to releasing comics once a week. Stay tuned.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #32

Welcome back avid readers! Gary Con 2026 is upon us, and by the time you are reading this I'll be in the frozen hinterlands of Blackmoor (aka Wisconsin) with many other fans sharing some Greyhawk adventures. Meanwhile, the Cultists are still stuck in the middle of the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. If you've played this module then you know where they're at currently. This classic module has been adapted to near every edition of D&D, and even the most recent 5E version in my opinion was fun to run. Speaking which, let's see if the Cultists are having fun or not. Enjoy!

p.s. This is the last week I will be post two comics in a row. Be sure to also check out the thrilling tale of Under.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #31

Welcome again to a new installment of the Cultists of Tharizdun as they make their way into the famous Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. One of my absolute favorite things in this classic module and probably in all of D&D lore, is the random chart for giant bag contents. This is something the 5E accessory, ahem, Bigby Presents Glory of the Giants does well in adding to the flavor and unique contents of giant bags. At any rate, how did the Cultists get inside the steading? Looks like stealth of course! Enjoy!

p.s. Be sure to check my short story Under as I am still posting two comics a week until after Gary Con next week.

p.s. I'm still on two comics a week, be sure to also read my short story Under.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #29

Welcome back dear readers! This week, fresh off finishing Maure Castle, the wacky Cultists of Tharizdun embark on another classic adventure from D&D fame. I'm sure everyone will recognize this one because in 2004, Dungeon #116 ranked the trilogy the 3rd best of D&D module of all time. This series has been updated or expanded upon in every edition (including 4E). I personally ran this in 5E for my players not that long ago, and it was just as enjoyable as 1E. We've all seen it or played it, now, let's see how a couple villains manage. Enjoy!

p.s. I am still posting two comics a week through Gary Con 2026, be sure to check the next installment of Under after this comic.

By now the Cultists are quite familiar with the guardian demon Kerzit and everything involving him. Have they finally had enough? Did they get what they came for? Let's see. Enjoy!

p.s. be sure to check out my other comic Under this week. I am running two strips a week until after Gary Con 2026.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #27

Welcome in brave adventurers. The Cultists of Tharizdun continue to explore the famous dungeons below Maure Castle and it seems the goal of their malign campaign is nearly in sight. Yes, of course this was no random dungeon crawl. These guys are certifiably insane, but they are very good at uncovering lost magical treasures. There is naturally one last impediment to a successful run of this fantastic adventure. Let's get to it, enjoy!

p.s. Be sure to check out the next episode of Under following this comic. I am releasing two comics a week for the time being.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #26

Welcome again to another wild and crazy episode of the Cultists of Tharizdun. The guys are still roaming the dungeons below Maure Castle. Check the links below to catch up on their misadventures. The topic of today's installment is one of my favorite features of the Robert Kuntz classic, the tapestry depicting Tomorast and Kerzit. Let's tune in...and enjoy!

p.s. Be sure to check out the next episode of Under following this comic. I am releasing two comics a week for the time being.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #25

Welcome back fans of Greyhawk! If you've been following the Cultists of Tharizdun strip, you'll know they are currently in the dungeons of Maure Castle featured in the classic module Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure (and later Dungeon #112, Maure Castle). Those of you who are familiar with the Maure adventures should know by now what the Cultists will be facing or what they are after. Until then, enjoy!

p.s. yes, the dumb cultist was turned to stone last issue. The smart cultist apparently has scrolls for many situations.

Welcome back Greyhawkers! As I mentioned in the previous comic, (follow the links below to rewind) the Cultists of Tharizdun have decided to take on the infamous WG5: Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure (1e)/Dungeon #112 Maure Castle (3.5e). Those of you familiar with this module you will certainly understand what they face. DMs if you don't own these adventures, then get them! Until then remember these comics going forward might be spoilery. You have been warned! Enjoy!

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #23

Happy New Year (in Western Oerik) dear readers! Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the Living Greyhawk Campaign was still around it would be on 616 CY. But in this new Cultist timeline we are back in 576 CY era, so heading into 577 CY the disastrous duo is embarking on an adventure path of their own. This first chapter may look familiar to fans of Robert J. Kuntz. Apologies in advance of course, but I think RJK would like the Tharizdun cultist tie-in. Let's see how far they get through this dungeon...enjoy!

P.S. Bonus kudo points to anyone who can identify the artifact in this comic.

I don't have any holiday specials to impart upon you all, but for those who are new to the blog, check out my collection of Needfest themed comics from the past. Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #21

Welcome in Greyhawkers! If there is one good thing about the Cultists, it's they rarely take a day off from work. Of course, their day job is trying to destroy the Oerth and they aren't paid to do the task. Naturally, even the most hardcore workaholic gets burn out sometimes. What's a cultist to do? Check it out and enjoy!

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #20

Welcome back fanatical fans!  The odd couple are at it again! What's that noise? It's the Wailer of Tharizdun from the Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun. I'm not entirely sure this is a magical item, but I know I've heard this instrument of evil in person somewhere before... If you have also then you know the madness it can induce. Check it out and enjoy!

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #18

Welcome Oerthians! It's Wednesday so that means it's time to look in on the two most scheming villains in all the World of Greyhawk, the Cultists of Tharizdun! If you are new to their evil antics, then where have you been? Check out the links below. The Cultists are always very busy coming up with new ways to destroy everything, which means most of their working days are spent researching and gathering info. As today's strip demonstrates there is often collaboration as well. Enjoy!

Bonus points to whoever can identify the source of the referenced spell.

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #17

Welcome Grey-fanatics! The Cultists of Tharizdun are back and as usual they are trying to expand their evil power to better achieve their nihilistic goals. To that end I love that aberrations and formless elder gods are in the same Venn diagram. The featured monsters in this comic are indeed sentient, but they need no explanation for the evils they inflict on characters in D&D. Let's see how things are going for the guys...enjoy!

Greyhawkery Comics: Cultists #16

Welcome in faithful readers. Yes, it is time again to follow the mad escapades of the Cultists of Tharizdun. If you are an acolyte of the Dark One, then check the links out below for more of their zany adventures. Today we look in on the popularity of the brethern's chief rivals, the Cult of Vecna. Destroying the world may be their number one goal, but a close second is being the most notorious cult in the Flanaess. Look on and enjoy!
